Frequently Asked Questions

Everything patients ask us — about cannabis products, how shopping at Urban Leaf works, and how to get and use an Oklahoma OMMA medical card. Still have a question? Just give us a call.

Cannabis Basics

What's the difference between indica, sativa, and hybrid?

Indica strains are typically associated with a relaxing, body-focused effect — many patients use them for sleep, muscle tension, or unwinding in the evening. Sativa strains lean more energetic and cerebral, often used for daytime focus and mood. Hybrids fall in between and can be tuned closer to either side depending on the cross. Effects vary person to person — our budtenders will help you find what fits your goals, or browse the current menu to see what's in stock today.

What are THC and CBD?

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main intoxicating compound in cannabis — it produces the classic "high." CBD (cannabidiol) is non-intoxicating and is often used for relaxation, inflammation, or sleep support without the head effect. Most products show both numbers on the label. If you're new, ask us about lower-THC or balanced THC:CBD options — our menu has plenty.

I'm a first-time patient — where should I start?

Start low and go slow. We typically recommend lower-THC flower, a low-dose edible (5 mg or less), or a CBD-forward product for your first visit. Tell your budtender it's your first time and we'll walk you through dosing, onset timing, and what to expect. There's no rush — we'd rather you have a good first experience than push a bigger product. Browse our current selection or give us a call with questions before you come in.

How should I store my cannabis?

Keep flower in an airtight container in a cool, dark place — heat, light, and air all degrade quality over time. Edibles store like any other food, ideally in their original packaging. Vape carts and concentrates do best upright and away from extreme heat. Properly stored, most products stay fresh for months.

How are edibles different from flower or vapes?

Inhaled cannabis (flower, vapes, concentrates) hits within minutes and tapers off in 1 to 3 hours. Edibles take 30 minutes to 2 hours to come on, peak at around 2 to 4 hours, and can last 6+ hours — they also tend to feel stronger because of how the liver processes THC. Always start with a low dose and wait the full onset window before taking more. Browse edibles on the menu →

Are all your products lab-tested?

Yes. Every product on the Urban Leaf menu is lab-tested for potency (THC/CBD percentages) and contaminants per Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) requirements. We only stock from growers and brands we trust, and test results are part of how we decide what makes the shelf. Read more about our quality standards.

What's the difference between distillate, live resin, and rosin?

Distillate is a highly refined cannabis oil — very potent, usually neutral in flavor, common in carts. Live resin is made from fresh-frozen flower and keeps a fuller terpene profile, so it tastes more like the strain. Rosin is solventless — pressed from flower or hash with just heat and pressure — and is typically the cleanest, most premium concentrate option. Ask us to walk you through what we have on the concentrates menu.

Yes — Urban Leaf Company is 100% woman-owned. We were founded in 2018 by two women who wanted to build a dispensary that puts patients first. That hasn't changed. Read our full story →

Do you carry CBD products?

Yes. We carry a range of CBD-forward products, including high-CBD flower, balanced THC:CBD options, tinctures, edibles, and topicals. CBD products at our dispensary still require an OMMA medical card to purchase in Oklahoma.

Can I bring a friend or caregiver?

Caregivers with a valid OMMA caregiver license can shop on behalf of a patient. Friends are welcome to come along, but only OMMA-licensed patients and caregivers can purchase. Everyone entering will need to show a valid ID.

OMMA & Oklahoma Medical Cards

What is an OMMA card, and do I need one to shop?

OMMA stands for the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority — the state agency that licenses Oklahoma medical marijuana patients. To purchase cannabis at any dispensary in Choctaw or anywhere else in Oklahoma, you'll need a valid OMMA patient license card or be a licensed caregiver. Once you're licensed, see what's on our menu. Oklahoma is a medical-only state — there is no recreational dispensary access.

How do I apply for an OMMA medical card?

You apply through the state at omma.ok.gov. You'll need a board-certified Oklahoma physician's recommendation, proof of Oklahoma residency, a recent photo, and the application fee. Most applications are reviewed within 14 business days. Get in touch and we're happy to point you toward local recommending physicians.

How long is my OMMA card valid?

Patient licenses are typically valid for 2 years from the date of issue — though some are issued for shorter periods depending on the physician's recommendation. Check the expiration date printed on your card. You'll need to renew through OMMA before it expires to keep shopping.

What can I buy with an OMMA card?

OMMA-licensed patients can purchase flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, topicals, and infused beverages from a licensed Oklahoma dispensary. We carry all of these on our menu.

How much can I possess at one time?

Current OMMA patient possession limits are 3 ounces of flower on your person, 8 ounces of flower at home, 1 ounce of concentrate, 72 ounces of edibles, and up to 6 mature and 6 seedling plants. Limits can change — check omma.ok.gov for the most current rules.

Does Oklahoma allow recreational cannabis?

No. Oklahoma is a medical-only cannabis state. SQ820, the 2023 ballot question that would have legalized recreational cannabis, failed at the polls. To shop legally at any Oklahoma dispensary you need a valid OMMA patient or caregiver license.

Does my OMMA card work in other states?

OMMA patient cards are not honored in other states. Some states accept out-of-state medical cards via reciprocity, but Oklahoma does not currently participate in reciprocity programs. If you're visiting from out of state, you cannot purchase from an Oklahoma dispensary on an out-of-state card.

Do I need to bring my OMMA card every visit?

Yes — every visit. You'll need your physical OMMA card and a matching photo ID at every purchase, whether you're shopping in-store or picking up at the drive-thru. Plan your visit → No card, no card on file — there are no exceptions.
